The view reflected in the window is like a framed picture, or a drawing scene
on a folding screen.
Japanese saying “Mitate” the representation of an object by comparing it to
another is a way of thinking that has been in vogue since the ancient ages.
In Kabuki play, they used to create a special object that makes the audience
to imagine a well-known form behind it. It may be similar to symbolism.
Like sorting through miscellaneous information and squeezing out the essence
of it, we extract the essence of it by way of comparison.
Now that the city has been locked down by COVID-19, it is rather familiar for
me to think around the change of time or the changes in the world from the
landscape reflected in the window.
